Raise money for HIAS
Help Make a Difference for Refugees
Thank you for your unwavering support of HIAS and for standing with refugees and asylum seekers. To ensure you're equipped with all the right tools, here are some tips for running a successful fundraiser.
Step 1: Sign up for our email list. Stay up to date with the latest news about the global refugee crisis so you can be an ambassador for refugees and asylum seekers.
Step 2: Set up your fundraiser on our platform or create one on Facebook. It’s up to you how long you want to fundraise, but usually 2 to 4 weeks works best.
Step 3: Set your goal. Research shows that an initial goal of $200 is a good place to start. Once you've reached your goal, you can increase it and raise more funds.
Step 4: Tell your story. Your story is the first thing people will see when visiting your fundraising page. It's important to communicate why you support refugees and asylum seekers.
Step 5: Donate. To jumpstart your campaign, be the first one to donate! Showcasing that you're not only a supporter, but also a donor, will encourage your network to give.
Step 6: Share your fundraiser. The success of your fundraising campaign depends on sharing your campaign with your social network. Start by reaching out to your closest friends and family members, who you know will support you. Then expand to your larger network. Social media, email, text messaging, and word of mouth are some of the best ways to get your fundraiser noticed.
Step 7: Share again. Sharing once a week in the beginning of your fundraiser and then increasing posts during the final week works best.
Step 8: Thank your supporters! The most important step is to thank your friends and family members for supporting your fundraiser and helping refugees and asylum seekers find safety, welcome, and opportunity.
