Help Ukrainian refugees in the spirit of welcoming the stranger this Passover

One of the beautiful aspects of Passover is the reminder that we are all connected to each other—that in our own lives and histories we have the capacity to relate to tragedies that befall others.

As we witness the tragic events unfolding in Ukraine, it is easy to feel disconnected and powerless. But we are not. Fortunately, there are organizations like HIAS—whose roots in helping Jewish families from the Former Soviet Union escape and resettle around the world—can now spring into action on our behalf, with our support.

This Passover, please join us at the Milken Archive of Jewish Music in honoring the theme of "welcoming the stranger" by supporting HIAS's efforts to help the more than three-and-a-half million refugees fleeing Ukraine.

About the Milken Archive of Jewish Music

www.milkenarchive.org

The Milken Archive was founded in 1990, by philanthropist Lowell Milken to preserve and disseminate the vast body of music shaped by Jews from all corners of the world who came to America seeking freedom. After assembling an editorial board comprising experts from diverse fields, the Archive commenced recording a collection currently comprising over 600 works by more than 200 composers. Organized into 20 volumes, the music is explored through oral histories with composers, cantors, educators and performers, plus videos, photos and essays illuminating the music and impact of the American Jewish experience.

About HIAS

With a record high of nearly 80 million refugees and forcibly displaced people worldwide, your support is more crucial than ever.

For over a century, HIAS has been there for refugees when and where they need help most. Now working in the United States and 15 other countries, we provide vital services to refugees and asylum seekers of all faiths so they can rebuild their lives—over 1.4 million in 2020. With the Jewish community beside us, we also advocate for the rights of forcibly displaced people globally. Over our expansive history and with your partnership, we’ve confronted—and overcome—formidable challenges facing refugees.

There have never been more people seeking safety and so few places willing to protect and welcome them. Refugees deserve a world in which they find welcome, safety, and opportunity. With your support, we can create it.
